2. Second Euro-Mediterranean Regional Conference: "The City, Living Heritage", Salé, Morocco,11-12 October 2012

The aim of this meeting is to encourage the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge on the theme of heritage as an identitary resource for social, cultural and economic cohesion that promotes sustainable development at local level. The main objective is to share experiences, create Euro-Mediterranean synergies and promote interregional dialogue.

3. Colloque “ Printemps arabe: Etat des lieux, tendances et perspectives”, Faculté Polydisciplinaire de Taza, Maroc, 14-15 décembre 2012

Axes non exhaustifs proposés :
-    Approches  théoriques des transformations politiques dans le monde arabe pendant et après les événements du printemps arabe.
-    Les facteurs structurels et les événements conjoncturels du printemps arabe: Données socio-économiques, nature des systèmes politiques, niveaux de liberté et de la participation etc.

4. Interdisciplinary Conference: "200 Years M. F. Akhundov: Enlightment, Alphabet and Beyond", Humboldt University Berlin,  6-7 November 2012

The Department History of Azerbaijan at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Azerbaijani Comparative Literature Association and the International Association for Science and Culture EuroKaukAsia welcome papers, panels and roundtable proposals from scholars and doctoral students for this interdisciplinary conference,  within the framework of 200th anniversary celebration of Azerbaijani philosopher, author, playwright and founder of modern literary criticism Mirza Fätali Akhundov. M. F. Akhundov was not only an Azerbaijani writer, who is called the “Molière of the Orient”, he also inspired Turkish and Iranian intellectuals and reformers since the late nineteenth century to the current time.

Conference languages are German, English, Russian and Azeri. 5. Workshop: "Beyond the Western Mediterranean: Trade and Exchange of Materials, Techniques and Artistic Production, 650–1500", Courtauld Institute of Art, London,  20 April 2013

We seek papers that address evidence touching on connections between at least two regions, for example the transfer of technologies from one region to another, the trade in raw materials, or the emulation of artistic forms.

6. International Conference: “Secularization, Mysticism and Religious Hybridities in the Mediterranean”, University of Malta, Valletta Campus, 7–9 February 2013

The aim of this International Conference, sponsored by the Mediterranean Institutes of the University of Malta and Busan University, is to bring leading international experts from diverse humanistic and social sciences to discuss both the historical and the contemporary aspects of religion in the Mediterranean. The theme of Secularization, Mysticism and Hybridities will be explored through the continuous interplay and/or influence that exists between Religion and Society in Mediterranean Cultures.

The conference organisers invite academics and other experts who would like to act as panel convenors to submit proposals for panels for consideration by the organizing committee. The panels will discuss themes ranging from Inter-religious Dialogue and Extremism (Fundamentalism), Pilgrimages and Places of Worship, Secularization versus Religious Hybridities, Mysticism and Popular Religion, Conflict and Gender Identities within Religions. Those who are interested in acting as panel convenors are invited to fill in the online proposal form by not later than 31 August 2012.

9.  Call for Articles on "Towns and Urbanization in the Contemporary Arabian Peninsula” in "Arabian Humanities n° 2"

"Arabian Humanities" is an international, biannual and thematic journal devoted to the Arabian Peninsula. It is open access online and publishes articles submitted in English, but also in Arabic and French (the articles are not translated). It combines articles selected for each special issue, free articles and book reviews. The disciplines are Archaeology, Islamic History, Modern and Contemporary History, Anthropology, Sociology, Linguistics, Literature, Political Sciences, Urban Studies and Geography.

10. Call for Articles on "Contemporary Writing in the Arabian Peninsula” in "Arabian Humanities n° 3"

The focus of this  project will be limited to the production of novels and short stories in the Arabian Peninsula. This project, coordinated by Elisabeth Vauthier (Professor, University of Rennes 2) and Luc Deheuvels (Professor, INALCO), will be conducted in partnership between the LASIMA (Language, Knowledge and Imaginaries in the Arab World, ERIMIT EA 4327), the CERMOM (Centre for Studies and Research Middle East Mediterranean EA 4091) and CEFAS (French Center for Archaeology and Social Sciences in Sana’a), to which institutions and universities in the Arabian Peninsula will be associated, including the University of King Abd al-Aziz in Jeddah. It will culminate in the publication of two journal issues, one centered on the short story, the second on the novel. They will be published one in the electronic review Arabics, the other in Arabian Humanities. International Journal of Archeaology and Social Sciences in the Arabian Peninsula, published by the CEFAS.
